Registration criteria

Admission rules for candidates with Polish diplomas

Minimum number of points needed to be qualified: 50

The programme is open to holders of the bachelor, master, engineer or equivalent degree.

Candidates are qualified for the studies based on the results of their interview.

Knowledge of English at least at C1 level is required.

A positive result of the admission procedure is equivalent to confirmation of the candidate’s competence to study in English (in the case of candidates who do not have proof of at least C1 level of English).

The oral exam interview is designed to assess the candidate motivation, commitment and readiness to pursue the studies at the GPTE. The interview will be conducted in English as a face-to-face meeting or via an online platform with 2 interviewers. The questions will address reasons for wanting to teach, the candidates’ previous experiences related to teaching and learning, as well as the candidates’ awareness of the important current issues in education. The aim of the interview is to assess communication skills appropriate for professional situations, ability to explain the ideas, and ability to justify them.

Admission rules for candidates with foreign diplomas

The admission criteria are the same as for candidates with Polish diplomas.

 

Checking the candidates' competence to undertake studies conducted in the English language

A positive result of the admission procedure is equivalent to confirmation of the candidate’s competence to study in English (in the case of candidates who do not have proof of at least C1 level of English).

Foreigners with foreign diploma from outside of EU/EFTA/OECD/unrecognized on the basis of international agreements or through nostrification

The exam in the language part will be conducted in the form of an individual interview with candidates on the ZOOM platform. It will consist of two parts:

1) comprehension of an academic written text,

2) answers to questions related to the text and an in-depth conversation of an academic nature.

The entrance exam in the language part primarily tests the candidate's language proficiency at an advanced level (C1), focusing on reading comprehension skills, text analysis, response formulation and knowledge of advanced vocabulary and grammatical structures. The following aspects are assessed:

  1. Oral and written comprehension

The candidate will need to demonstrate a deep understanding of the content, the author's intention, the structure of the text and vocabulary at C1 level, as well as the ability to analyse the text, interpret it, draw and formulate logical conclusions based on what they have read, recognise opinions and arguments.

  1. Linguistic response

The candidate's ability to express opinions and arguments, formulate their views, justify them and make a coherent argument will be tested. Consideration will be given to the range and precision of vocabulary choice, grammatical and stylistic correctness, correct pronunciation and intonation, as well as the candidate’s ability to use a rich, precise and appropriate academic and idiomatic vocabulary.
The candidate should interact with the interlocutor using a wide range of communicative strategies and use complex grammatical structures naturally and correctly, in conducting fluent and spontaneous conversations on social, cultural, and educational topics in an academic context.
