Admission rules

Master studies in Global Environment and Development offered by the University of Warsaw University Center for the Environmental Studies and Sustainable Development (UCBS) of the UW are part of the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master in Global Environment and Development (MERGED) consortium of European universities.

Applicants for admission must:

1) have a bachelor's, master's, engineer's or equivalent foreign diploma;

2) provide proof of proficiency in English at a minimum level of C1 (according to the Council of Europe classification).

The recruitment procedure is the same for candidates with Polish and foreign diplomas.

All applications must be made on-line on the University of Copenhagen website (Consortium application portal.).

 

Applications must include the following documents:

a. graduation diploma (certified copy), if it is not in English, applicants are asked to attach an official translation;

b. diploma supplement or academic transcript of records, if it is not in English, please attach an official translation;

c. Curriculum Vitae;

d. a scan of a valid passport (main pages only);

e. 2 letters of recommendation (in English);

f. motivation letter;

g. proof of English language proficiency.

Admission procedure:

1. the University of Copenhagen undertakes an initial pre-selection based on the fulfillment of formal requirements (completeness of the application).

2. the MERGED Program Evaluation Committee evaluates all eligible applications conducts the recruitment process, evaluating:

a. academic excellence (60%),

b. recommendations (20%),

c. professional and academic experience (10%),

d. motivation to study (10%).

Each criterion is assessed using a scale of 1-5 (5 = excellent, 4 = very good, 3 = good, 2 = average, 1 = poor). The final result is the sum of points awarded for each criterion.

Based on the point scores awarded by the MERGED Assessment Committee a ranking list is drawn up.

Recruitment takes place in two tracks:

I track for non-EU/EEA/Swiss candidates;

II track for EU/EEA/Swiss candidates.

A total of 40 candidates are qualified to the programme, the first 20 candidates from the list of candidates for the UW track, the first 20 candidates from the list of candidates for the UNIMI track. Remaining candidates are placed on the reserve list or are not qualified for the program.

For candidates for the Erasmus Mundus scholarship, separate rules apply, as defined by the European Commission.
